Before this book was released I wondered how much time Carrie's best friend had left as a character. Although still unanswered, I see we were traveling along the same thread. I find the whole KKK issue interesting and appalling at the same time. Having lived through the troublesome 60s and beyond, I am surprised that we as a nation and as a society are no further along in our racial development than what's portrayed in the 1800s. Makes my heart ache. As always I recommend this series. It's wholesome, I will assume mostly historically accurate, and it makes a reader think about their biases and family indoctrination relating to those biases.
