About Frank Herbert

Frank Herbert was an American science fiction author best known for his highly influential futuristic novel, “Dune.” Born on October 8, 1920, in Tacoma, Washington, Herbert, with his intricate and detailed depictions of science, politics, and religion, left an indelible mark on the science fiction genre. His ‘Dune’ series, spanning six novels, had a substantial impact on literature and popular culture. Prior to his writing career, Herbert served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and worked as a journalist and photographer. Herbert passed away on February 11, 1986, but his legacy continues to inspire and captivate readers around the world.
