Policy director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, he is author of The World Turned: Essays on Gay History, Politics, and Culture. Estelle B. Freedman is the Edgar E. Robinson Professor in U.S. History at Stanford University and the author of No Turning Back: The History of Feminism and the Future of Women.
