EVERETT POTTER has been writing about Caribbean, Canada, Central America, and Europe for National Geographic for 15 years. He has covered the globe for three decades for publications including Outside, the Wall Street Journal, Condé Nast Traveler, and the Washington Post. He also serves as an expert host on National Geographic Expedition's train journeys. He lives in Pelham, New York, and spends summers in a rustic cabin in Western Maine.
