About Jean Trounstine Books
Jean Trounstine is an activist, educator, and author of eight books, including Shakespeare Behind Bars: The Power of Drama in a Women's Prison, based on her decade directing plays at Framingham Women's Prison. She co-founded the women's branch of Changing Lives Through Literature, an alternative sentencing program, and writes on prison and parole for outlets like Truthout and Boston Magazine. In 2018, she received Italy's Gramsci International Award for Theatre in Prison. After her 2024 short story collection Motherlove, Sounds Like Trouble to Me is her debut novel.
