About Phil E. Hamm Books
As far back as I can remember, my only interest as a livelihood has been in writing, performing, arranging or teaching music. My music education began in grade school and by the time I was in high school, I was participating in everything I could in the school music department. In college, at Austin Peay State University and Indiana State University, I earned a B.S. in Music Education, while performing in as many instrumental and vocal ensembles as possible. After graduation, I spent the next 20 years as a professional musician mostly in the Houston, Texas area. I retired from stage in 1994 and began my private teaching career. During that same time, I was busy co-writing songs to be re- corded and making notational arrangements for my students. After moving to Indiana, I was first published in 2007 by Neil A. Kjos Music Company in the "Hymns I Know" series. In 2012, Kjos published my first piano book for begin- ners "Merry Christmas From Middle C". In 2013, Kjos published "Ragtime and Blues" books one and two. In 2014, I self-published "Give God the Glory" books one and two, patterned after "Merry Christmas from Middle C". Now in 2015, I have self-published "Jazzy Christmas Arrangements","Jazzy Hymn Arrange- ments" books one and two all meant for the intermediate church pianist. I am still teaching, performing and looking forward to future publishing projects.
