About Virginia Monger Books
The Monger Sisters first published "Nia's Sick Sense" in December 2015. They were inspired to create this sci-fi series after learning of their lineage to the Kpelle tribe of Liberia through their patriarch grandmother. NSS shines a light on current social issues plaguing our streets and the halls of our children's schools from discrimination to sexual assualt. Infusing a contemporary style of African culture, hip hop, and science fiction, the story of Nia Kpelle, a freshman at Adam A. Korrupt High, is meant to encourage young girls to be confident and believe in their own strengths and capabilities. NSS sparks the much-needed conversation with our youth who are struggling with their own sense of identity, while overcoming limiting beliefs and peer pressure forced upon them.
