A Quiet Fall in Riverbend

Riverbend Cozy Mystery (Book 1)

Josie Bennett never planned to come back to Riverbend for good.

Ten years ago, she left her quiet hometown for college, a career as an investigative reporter, and a life far removed from the peaceful streets and familiar faces she grew up with. But after years of deadlines, noise, and city chaos, the pull of home becomes impossible to ignore, especially when she learns her beloved Aunt Lottie Carter is battling AML.

Returning to Riverbend with her loyal dog Tucker, Josie hopes for a slower life filled with front porch mornings, strong coffee, and the comfort of small-town familiarity.

Instead, she finds a body behind the local diner.

When longtime resident Mr. Harlan dies under suspicious circumstances, the town is quick to call it a tragic accident. Josie is not so sure. Something about the scene feels wrong, and her reporter instincts refuse to let it go.

As quiet secrets begin to surface, Josie finds herself tangled in a mystery involving hidden records, mounting pressure, and a truth someone desperately wanted buried. With Tucker by her side, Aunt Lottie asking sharp questions of her own, and Sheriff Caleb Mercer trying to keep both the peace and his distance, Josie soon realizes that in a town like Riverbend, people may smile politely while hiding far more than they admit.

Because sometimes the most dangerous secrets are the ones tucked behind familiar doors.
