A Rhinopotamus Fable by Laura (Grá) Adumitroaie

Meet Gertrude - part rhino, part hippopotamus, and entirely, wonderfully herself.

Gertrude has always dreamed of becoming a ballerina. From the moment she watched the flamingo dancers glide and spin in the jungle arena, she knew that dance was her calling. But Gertrude doesn't look like any dancer anyone has ever seen. She has two horns, plump lips, light grey skin, and a body that doesn't fit the mould - and the world is quick to remind her of that.

When she walks through the doors of the Jungle Dance Academy, doubt and laughter greet her. A snooty hyena tells her she doesn't belong. Even her own parents are uncertain. But Gertrude's spirit cannot be dimmed. With quiet confidence, years of practice, and a heart full of courage, she steps onto the floor - and stuns everyone into silence.

A Rhinopotamus Fable is a joyful, rhyming picture book about daring to be exactly who you are, even when the world says you shouldn't. It celebrates body positivity, self-belief, and the power of perseverance - reminding every child that their light comes not from how they look, but from the courage they carry inside.

Perfect for ages 4-8. A beautiful read-aloud for families, classrooms, and anyone who has ever felt too different to belong - and chosen to shine anyway.

"Never get discouraged when others try to do so, cause the light is in your courage that helps you grow and glow!"
