Things I used to worry about on a daily basis... how my hair looked... was my nail polish "in"... which party would my best friend be dragging me to this time? After a long day I would come home expecting to find my quirky sister's nose stuck in a book and my little brother running around, waiting to bug me about the latest video game that had released.

That life was simple. I had a best friend. I had two parents who loved me--grandparents who adored me.

But my life is no longer simple.

Things I worry about now... what time is sunset? Do I have plenty of pointy wood in my possession? Is this person trustworthy? Will I find a new enemy I have to fight around the next corner?

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is my life. Secrets. Blood. Wood. Death.

I live and breathe these things. I wish my life could be as simple as the people who don't have a clue. They go about their lives, and they have no idea what's really going on, right under their noses, right outside their doors. But there has to be someone chosen.

And that's me. I was chosen.
