Bitter Spirits - Paperback

by Jami Gray (Author)

In the Arcane world spirits linger, secrets kill, and desire is the deadliest magic of all.

When Wonderland's alarm sounds in the middle of the night, Arcane bar owner, Isa Serrano expects to find trouble, but a hysterical server and a dead body exceed those expectations. As a Reaper, she's a deft hand at dealing with the traumatized spirits that death leaves in its wake, but when it's revealed that this victim died wielding magic that was never his to possess, she's got questions for the dangerously tempting man stalking her every move.

Locke Turon has answers, but he isn't ready to share them with the fascinating woman he's been pursuing for months. A relentless tracker, Locke's loyalties lay firmly with the powerful Cordova Family and he's on the hunt for a missing teenager who could be the key to a mysterious new drug leaving a trail of corpses in the shadowy corners of Phoenix's underground club scene. He never anticipated his investigation would cross paths with Isa and her mysterious past.

She doesn't trust his Family, and he doesn't trust the secrets she holds close, yet the two wary mages are forced into an uneasy alliance as they follow the missing teen's trail through whispered conspiracies, bankrolled chaos, and straight into a criminal enterprise fronted by Isa's nightmare.

As Isa and Locke are drawn deeper into the dangerous scheme threatening to tear apart the magical fabric of Arcane society, will they risk believing in each other, or let the bitter bite of mistrust poison their guarded hearts?

And the future? It might just kill them.
