Book Overview

by Michael Martone (Author)

These 11 stories represent something new in American fiction. The author calls them mixtures of fact and fiction, fame and obscurity, their sources the little stories people repeat without thinking and then turn them into myth.

Back Jacket

John Barth has said that Michael Martone's stories 'transform Indiana from a mere heartland into an archive of the heart.' Uncommon and uncanny, hypnotic, multidimensional, realistic, often hilarious, these fifteen stories represent something new in American fiction.
