I began sewing at four years of age. With my natural talent for sewing I made my own clothes in jr. high and high school. I went on to fashion college (The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising). I studied fashion design, color theory and pattern making then graduated in 1985. My 18 year fashion career included positions as a fashion designer, production patternmaker and a first patternmaker. I also studied website design, graphic design and desktop publishing. Throughout my life I've had an interest in quilting but, never took the time to learn it. With lots of time at home after my daughter was born (fall of 2000). I began to read books about quilting. Quilting captivated me, and I began to focus my creativity towards it. I made my first quilt as a gift for my mother in November of 2000. I taught myself how to quilt by reading books, and watching the HGTV series, "Simply Quilts". After making that first quilt, I wanted to design my own quilt patterns. One morning just a few weeks later, I woke up with the idea for Quilted Photos. My first thought was that it couldn't work, but I made the first quilted photo a week later. I was amazed at how stunning the results were, and am still amazed every time I complete a Quilted Photo. I think my career paths, and collection of knowledge has given me this unique approach to quilting. I hope you enjoy this innovative art quilting style as much as I do. My quilts have been featured on TV shows such as Simply Quilts (HGTV), Sewing with Nancy (PBS) and Sewing With Kaye (PBS). One of my quilts was purchased by the Shelbourn Museum in Vermont and another quilt won the Japan Award at Quilt National '07 I am also available to teach classes at your guild or quilt shop.
