I Sat Down Under His Shadow With Great Delight - Paperback

by Akua Boatemaa Kuma (Author)

Every shadow belongs to something. Before you sit down, find out what.

Gloria Asamoah-Mensah was raised to give with an open heart. But an open heart, untested, is a map that anyone can read.

The friend who saw her deepest secrets sold them for entertainment. The man who prayed with her by night was taking inventory by day. By thirty-one, Gloria has learned the cruelest lesson a trusting soul can learn: not every shadow that offers covering intends to cover you. Some only position themselves near you in order to take.

What follows is not a love story. It is a shadow story: the long, hidden years where God rebuilds a woman in secret, the church community that receives her without requiring her to shrink, the old nurse who lost her list and kept the shadow, and the quiet man who teaches Ruth on Thursday nights and points, always, past himself.

Rich with the warmth of Ghanaian-American faith and family, The Story of Gloria asks the question that determines every destiny: under whose shadow are you sitting? Because where you sit determines what you become. And whatever stands under a true shadow grows.

"I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste." Song of Solomon 2:3
