Book Overview

The third Jack Slater novel is an ever-present fight between good and evil...

Jack Slater, once an orphan boy on a train trip west, is facing incredible danger and introducing a new generation of the Slater family.

An outlaw with suitcases full of ill-gained money buys his way into Elko County, Nevada politics. He threatens Jack Slater's family and friends, something Slater will not tolerate. The fight to rid the county of corrupted office holders is also a good lesson in civics for his adopted son, Rob, who fights right alongside Jack Slater. Despite his young age, Rob becomes a man. There were good men who allowed themselves to be corrupted and others who looked to be.

About Johnny Gunn

Johnny Gunn the pseudonym of a retired journalist. He says, "I ditched college after the first year by being hired by a radio station as a full time reporter, and the merry-go-round never stopped. I can't say I miss the day-to-day newsroom chaos, but I love allowing my characters to do their thing, not have to report someone else's thing." During his fifty-year career, he published and edited The Nevada Observer.com, an internet news magazine; The Virginia City Legend, a weekly newspaper; and The Rhythm of Reno, a monthly entertainment magazine. Also he was senior editor at AdNews, serving the advertising gurus, marketing mavens, and other creative souls in Nevada. Several years ago, he started transitioning from hard news to fiction (There are many that say these two are the same), writing short stories and having them published in some fine literary journals and magazines. He and his wife live on a small hobby farm about twenty miles north of Reno, Nevada, and share space with a couple of horses, a flock of egg-laying chickens, some meat rabbits, and one goofy goat.
