Book Overview

by John Milton (Author), Edward Everett Jr. Hale (Editor)

Milton's Paradise Lost, Books 1-2 is a classic epic poem written by the English poet John Milton in 1667. This edition of the poem was published in 1896 and contains the first two books of the epic. The poem tells the story of the fall of man, as recounted in the biblical book of Genesis, with Satan as the central character. The first book describes Satan's rebellion against God and his subsequent fall from grace, while the second book focuses on Satan's journey to Earth and his temptation of Adam and Eve. Milton's Paradise Lost is considered one of the greatest works of English literature and is known for its complex themes, vivid imagery, and use of blank verse. This edition includes an introduction by the editor, as well as notes and annotations to aid in understanding the text. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
