My Father is Saturn - Paperback

My Father is Saturn is an intimate look at the unraveling of identity. Through poetry and prose, Bugg shares her complicated return to the South, her family lineage and her inner child. Her first published collection of poems-structured like a modern-day Genesis-guided by the mythic Father, Saturn, she moves us through a journey of innocence, undoing, shame and redemption.

Across the Mississippi river-through sisterhood, church basements, queerness and the shadows of the past-this collection challenges us to face the stories we inherited but never chose, and to courageously rewrite them: to lose a name, to wander into the soil of who you were, to kneel with open hands, and dig until you find yourself.

Both cosmic & deeply human, My Father is Saturn is about the cost of leaving, the power of return, revelation, and relief in finding the truths that have always been yours to step into.
