On November 8, 2018 in a beautiful little town called Paradise which is nestled in the Sierra Nevada Mountain foothills, came Wind and Fire. It came awfully fast. People had to flee immediately to save themselves. Children in school were rushed out and loaded into buses to escape the bright flames burning their town. The school buses drove to parking lots with large areas of concrete so the fires could not reach them. It must have been very frightening for the children and for their parents not knowing where and how to reach each other. Just imagine how scary the fire must have been for the animals as well as for the people. Especially! the children who narrowly escaped. This horrible occurrence prompted the author to use her imagination to write this story which she hoped children would like to read and maybe, using some of our beloved characters, Polly, Grady, Harry, Toby and the Family, to write and draw their own stories.
