Book Overview

by Rick Pitino (Author), Pat Forde (Author)

"Rick Pitino knows a thing or two about comebacks--on the court and in life."

--Louisville Courier-Journal

Basketball legend Rick Pitino reveals his model of success built upon his experiences of failure and personal loss in Rebound Rules--a powerful, deeply personal book about never giving up. Recalling the tragedies that shaped his life and career--his unsuccessful tenure as Celtics coach, the devastating loss on 9/11 of his best friend and his brother-in-law and the deep depression that followed--Coach Pitino shares his Rebound Rules, demonstrating how he emerged wiser and rose to new heights with a richer perspective on life and work...and how you can, too.

Rebound Rules offers the playbook for any comeback:

  • Leadership Under Pressure: Learn from Pitino's highest-stakes games and biggest professional setbacks, including his unsuccessful tenure with the Boston Celtics.
  • A Framework for Resilience: Discover the "Rebound Rules," a concrete model for turning professional failure and devastating personal loss into a source of strength and perspective.
  • Building Team Chemistry: Understand the formula for a winning team--on the court or in the office--by cultivating passion, hunger, and drive in yourself and others.
  • Gaining Perspective from Tragedy: A deeply personal look at how the coach processed profound grief after the 9/11 attacks and emerged with a new definition of what truly matters.

Back Jacket

The only coach in college history to lead three different schools to the Final Four, Rick Pitino is a basketball icon. He is an NCAA champion and a bestselling author, but Pitino's journey has not been without life-altering adversity, including the devastating loss of his infant son, Daniel, and the death of his brother-in-law and best friend in the World Trade Center attacks of 9/11.

In his new book, Pitino is more deeply personal, more inspiring, more practical, and more powerful than ever before. More than a comeback story, Rebound Rules is a manual for overcoming life's difficulties and resetting your worldview for a fresh start, written by one of the sporting world's most innovative and dynamic leaders.
