Sanctified - Paperback

In 1868, in a small town in Texas, Martha McWhirter peered into a limestone cave, looking for eggs from her chickens. Who knew making a living could be this circular, she thought. And obstinate. Martha's husband, George, made a fine living as a lawyer and businessman but Martha had stopped taking his money when she became "sanctified." People in town called her crazy, and when other women began joining her, saying they'd become sanctified too, Martha knew what the town was saying was worse. Much worse. With hostility bordering on frightening. Martha could see the only way to protect the women was to move them in under her roof. But what did she have over George that would cause him to let this happen? And how did being sanctified play into it?
