This story uses the inspiration of Congresswoman's courage and determination to teach young people about the importance of believing in themselves and engaging in civic activity.

Author Biography

LaShon Ormond is a mother, a writer, an avid reader, a believer in the complete and total development of girls and women (all people really), and a champion for fairness and equity in education and education policy. When not involved in her professional endeavors in the educational technology world, she chooses to focus on her passion: youth development. The release of Shirley 4 President is the first book in the Telling Her Story series. The goal of the Telling Her Story series is to get children and their parents inspired by books and powerful women who accomplished so much even when faced with seemingly impossible tasks.
