Snake in the Brass - Paperback

by Jennifer Lamont Leo (Author)

In 1920, Amanda Parrish has built a good life for herself in Timber Coulee, Idaho. She owns Mountain Melodies, the town's beloved music shop, enjoys the company of Sheriff James Holcomb, and shares her cozy cottage with her niece, Molly, and the world's most opinionated orange tabby, Moxie. Life is peaceful, predictable, and just the way Amanda likes it.

Until the Midnight Serpents roll into town.

The five-piece jazz band promises to shake up sleepy Timber Coulee with their daring new sound-and they deliver more than anyone bargained for. When a body turns up the morning after a spectacular concert, the tragedy seems like a terrible accident. But soon, mounting evidence points to murder . . . with several people falling under a cloud of suspicion, including Amanda's sister, Kathleen.

With her family's reputation at stake and Sheriff Holcomb's investigation heating up, Amanda must use all her intelligence and intuition to uncover the truth. But as she digs deeper into the glamorous, volatile world of traveling musicians, she discovers that jealousy, resentment, and heartbreak make for a deadly combination-and that the most dangerous lies are the ones people tell themselves.

This third installment in the Music Shop Mysteries series strikes all the right notes for fans of historical cozy mysteries. Snake in the Brass features a charming 1920s small-town setting, a clever amateur sleuth, an endearing found-family dynamic, and one exceptionally clever cat detective. Perfect for readers who love Jazz Age glamour, small-town secrets, and the satisfying snap of a well-crafted whodunit.
