As she struggled with her addictions, Ruth recalled her God-centered upbringing, prayers of her Christian mother and church attendance as God's call to her. It wasn't until she hit rock bottom that Ruth realized she was in a battle between Satan and God, and she needed the discernment of God's will to overcome the devil's sin tactics.
