The Betrayal of Lincoln Crockett - Paperback

by G. W. Scott (Author)

This is the story of Lincoln Crockett, a young man troubled of mind and soul and seeking to come to grips with the "whys" of the world that, left unresolved, leave him with an unexplained feeling of emptiness, a void somewhere deep inside. He is on a quest for truth and redemption. This quest takes him on an unimaginable journey that runs the full gamut of human emotions. Ride along with Lincoln as he experiences drama, adventure, and comedy. You will share the tears, feel the heartbreak, empathize with the loss, taste the anger, and chuckle at the humor as he strives against centuries-old social forces of prejudice and class systems to find peace. On this journey, you'll meet colorful characters and marvel at the secrets they harbor, the agendas they pursue, and the mischief they stir. A sexy hotel manager, gangsters, bootleggers, a crooked sheriff, a jackleg preacher, a fancy carnival owner, a federal agent, a half-wit ferry operator, a brave best friend, and a southern beauty fill the pages with excitement as Lincoln gets entangled in an assortment of misadventures. Experience the Moonshine War; listen in on Lincoln's conversation with his dead parents; observe the heated constitutional debate between Lincoln and the sheriff; pin your ears back for Reverend Nutter's fiery sermons. Does Lincoln find the truth? Does he reconcile the "whys?" Does he find redemption? There's only one way to find out.
