Book Overview

by Máire Zepf (Author), Andrew Whitson (Illustrator)

An archipelago of eight interconnecting stories and fables filled with the fantastical and a love of the craft of storytelling.

When Nancy's cat Pangur is stolen by the Faery people, she finds herself striking a deal like no other: she is now the one-and-only storyteller for the Faery Kingdom.

So starts Máire Zepf's enchanting story collection, reminiscent of fairytales and fables of past and present, but entirely new.

From ghost dragons to magical hats and a dream-weaving giantess, these are tales that awaken the senses and manage to connect with each other in a way reminiscent of 1001 Arabian Nights, perfect for voracious readers and bedtime story consumers alike.

Her Rita series of picture books with illustrator Mr. Ando has recently been adapted for television. She is screen-writer and co-creator of the celtic anime series 'Lí Ban.' The Co. Down author was the first Children's Writing Fellow for Northern Ireland, based at the Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry at Queen's University Belfast. Máire loves sea-swimming and crisps.

Andrew Whitson is an award-winning artist, author, publisher, and Belfast native who likes to be called Mr Ando! He lives in an old house nestled on the side of a misty hill, at the edge of a magic wood, below an enchanted castle, in the shadow of a giant's nose.
He first began working as a professional artist at the age of sixteen, where he painted rock band album covers onto the backs of denim jackets for a fee of £10 each, which proved lucrative at that time. Andrew has illustrated over thirty books.
