Book Overview

by Katherine Mansfield (Author)

The Collected Stories of Katherine Mansfield brings together the complete short fiction of one of the most gifted and influential modernist writers of the early 20th century. With exquisite sensitivity and psychological insight, Mansfield captures fleeting moments, quiet epiphanies, and the unspoken tensions beneath everyday life. Her stories-such as The Garden Party, Bliss, and The Daughters of the Late Colonel-explore themes of identity, class, gender, and emotional isolation with lyrical precision and understated power. This collection showcases Mansfield's masterful command of mood and nuance, cementing her legacy as a pioneer of the modern short story and a brilliant observer of the human condition.

About Katherine Mansfield

Katherine Mansfield (1888-1923) was born and raised in New Zealand. Lawrence, Virginia Woolf, and other members of the Bloomsbury Group. She published three collections of short stories in her lifetime, including Bliss and The Garden Party. After she died of tuberculosis at age thirty-four, her husband published two additional volumes of her short fiction as well as posthumous collections of her poetry, letters, and journals.
