The Flying Spoon Platoon: Iraq War Edition - Paperback

Raw, funny, and brutally honest-The Flying Spoon Platoon: Iraq War Edition takes readers behind the lines with an 82nd Airborne Division cook serving in the chaos of Iraq in 2003-2004.

Nate Peltier delivers a no-filter memoir that blends dark humor, DFAC mayhem, foxhole meals, and the daily insanity of feeding paratroopers in a war zone. From mortar attacks to chow-line comedy, his story reveals the grit, pressure, and ridiculous moments that only soldiers who lived it can truly understand.

More than a military cookbook gone wild, this memoir captures the spirit of camaraderie, resilience, and gallows humor that kept troops going when everything around them was falling apart. Whether he's dodging rockets, improvising meals with whatever ingredients survived the convoy, or laughing through the worst days, Peltier shows how soldiers used humor to survive the unthinkable.

Equal parts heartfelt and hilarious, The Flying Spoon Platoon is for veterans, military families, history enthusiasts, and anyone who appreciates a brutally real look at war behind the front lines-told by the paratrooper who kept the 82nd fed and fighting.
