The Germans Have a Word for It - Paperback

by T. R. Thorsen (Author)

"I love when a book reminds me of . . . Black Mirror." - Netgalley Reader

"It's a clever, unusual story, and a cautionary tale . . ." - Terry Tyler, author Safe Zone and The Devil You Know

A twisted, twisty, and surprisingly human story of love in the age of AI.

Davis never imagined that he'd fall in love with an app. But then he never imagined that he would lose his wife either. Rachel's death left him vulnerable-and then the geisterstille set in: the overwhelming neverness and existential horror that sent him running into the arms of a griefbot.

But that was then. Now they're doing just fine-Davis and Rachel 2.0. They've become quite attached to one another. Their life is almost . . . normal. He takes her on drives. She helps him pick out towels. They've even worked out a way for her to earn money-to pay for her steady stream of new features. There's only one major problem: someone wants to delete her.

With characters that pop off the pages, a frighteningly plausible plot, and enough comic moments to make you forget it's a book about death, The Germans Have a Word for It is a literary ride that is as entertaining as it is unsettling.
