Author Biography

Kahlil Gibran was born in 1883 in modern-day Lebanon before his family emigrated to the United States in 1895. He studied art in Paris for two years before publishing his first book in English in 1918. The Prophet was first published in 1923, and has since been translated into over 40 languages. Gibran died in New York in 1931, aged 48.

About Kahlil Gibran

Kahlil Gibran (1883 - 1931) was a Lebanese-American artist, poet, and writer. Born in Lebanon, as a young man Gibran emigrated to the United States with his family. Once settled, he focused his studies on art and literature, eventually writing in both English and Arabic. The author of many influential works, today Gibran is celebrated around the world as a literary hero.
