The Substitute Savior - Paperback

by Sam Campanelli (Author)

The Substitute Savior is a moving and suspenseful novel that carries you into the lives of two gifted and enigmatic teachers-Mr. Amonte and Mr. Merriman. Mr. Merriman's special gift is his wonderful ability to connect with his students and help them discover the inner beauty and strength that lies within us all. He was the type of teacher that students would never forget. Mr. Amonte has a special gift of his own--his supernatural ability to heal the sick and resurrect the dead. When he first discovered this ability at age 11, he accepted it with innocence and purity. However, as he matures, he realizes that his special healing powers have produced unintended negative consequences: social isolation, family strife, and most importantly, anger and resentment from his father. After 25 years of moving from one teaching position to another, Mr. Amonte finally accepts one last teaching position with the intention to never heal another again, and bury his past forever. Mr. Amonte, however, has no idea his new position will send him on a suspenseful collision course with the people and events of his past when he uncovers a shocking secret about one of his new students. Mr. Amonte risks everything for this student and in the process finds love, redemption, and ultimately, the astonishing source of his healing powers. The Substitute Savior intimately explores relationships critical to all our lives: parent-child, teacher-student, husband-wife, grandparent-grandchild, friends, and lovers. The universal themes of love, friendship, forgiveness, compassion, and spirituality permeate this engaging and heartfelt novel.
