There's a Chicken in My Backpack was inspired by a true event when a secretary of an elementary school had a student bring an actual chicken in her backpack that she "rescued" from someone's yard. It's a playful work of fiction of what might have happened if the chicken had made it past the front office. The first in Karalee's backpack series, contains a creative rhyming cadence and fun events before the child realizes it's probably time to go call mom.
