Tartans are among some of the most ancient of fabrics and remain classics for fashion. Furthermore, tartan designs have worked their way into a wide array of commercial products. Planning and weaving tartans can be a challenge for weavers due to the complex color arrangements that are based on registered threadcounts for clans, districts and a host of other organizations that have adopted tartans as part of their identity. This book provides step-by-step instructions on: researching tartan setts and obtaining thread count information; planning and designing a tartan project;tips and tricks for successful tartan weaving; and more! About Linda Tilson Davis

Linda Tilson Davis has been weaving for over 40 years. The colors and patterns of landscapes strongly influence her designs and approaches to weaving. Through the years she has come to specialize in tied weaves, twills and tartans. She teaches workshops and seminars and exhibits her work throughout the United States. When she isn't weaving, she is enjoying the outdoors, mostly in the Pacific Northwest, with her husband Tom and their Golden Retriever, Koda. She also enjoys reading and doing volunteer work on behalf of her community's library system. Other fiber arts such as knitting occupy her "spare time".
