When the Storm God Rides: Tejas and Other Indian Legends - Paperback

by Florence Stratton (Author)

Drawing from genuine Hasinai traditions, this collection presents the lore of the Tejas, a Caddoan people whose name gave Texas its identity. Set between the Sabine and Trinity rivers, these stories reveal a culture shaped by its position between the Southeastern woodlands and the Plains, blending influences from both worlds.

Told in clear, accessible prose, the narratives preserve regional folklore that is otherwise sparsely recorded, offering insights into the spiritual figures, natural forces, and moral lessons that guided Tejas life.

This volume provides an engaging window into a lesser-documented Indigenous heritage, highlighting its enduring cultural richness and significance.
