Book Overview

by Richard Lewis Rodgers (Author), David Alan Williams (Author)

Whispering Smith is an American Western series that aired on NBC. Using the same title as the 1948 Alan Ladd movie and the novel by Frank H. Spearman from which that film derived, this series stars Audie Murphy as Tom "Whispering" Smith, a police detective in Denver, Colorado. Filming of the series began in 1959, but it did not air until May 8, 1961. This much sought-after series can boast great stories and even greater acting by its star Audie Murphy. This book details its stars, guest stars and episodes with numerous pictures from the series.

About David Alan Williams

David Alan Williams became an Audie Murphy fan early in life, as his mother would only let him stay up late when there was an Audie Murphy movie on the late show and she would let him watch it with her. His mother, being a movie fan, named him after David Janssen. His middle name was almost Audie, but Alan Ladd died just before he was born and since his mother was an Alan Ladd fan also, his middle name was Alan instead of Audie. David has traveled through thirty-three states and has lived in eleven of them, but currently lives with his wife of twenty-four years, four daughters, three cats, and one dog in L.A. (Lower Arkansas). His wife Deborah is a math teacher and yearbook sponsor at their local high school.
