WOLF COP

Tony Serella is a tough but honest cop. But he's gotten a reputation as a wolf cop, a loner that doesn't run with the pack, doesn't play the game. Now he's up on charges that he beat a young punk who pulled a knife on him, beat him senseless. Mayberry, the Chief of Detectives, is on his side, but the Commissioner is not so sure. He'd like to keep Serella on the force, but he's got his own career to think of. And then there's Inspector Curtain, worried that Serella is bucking for his job. He'd like nothing more than to see this wolf cop busted out of the department. Serella has only got one shot at redemption, and it's a long one. But first he has decide if he can compromise his ideals-or if he himself is worth fighting for.

PORT ANGELIQUE

Sabo de Chine is out of jail and back in Port Angelique, back to reclaim his buried treasure. It's up to police commissioner Stanley Fowler to catch him with the loot. However, it seems that everyone on the island knows about this treasure, and they all want a piece of it. There's Bip, the illiterate Yum-Yum boy who wants a taste of the good life; George Kelly, the over-extended port captain; Laird Abbot, a larcenous shrimper with a handy boat; and Canta, the Florida gangster in charge of moving the gold. Into this stewpot of greed and villainy is added Mama Lukee, the local madam with an agenda of her own. Fowler cautiously makes his way through this miasma of crooked intentions, his one goal in life to put Sabo behind bars, this time permanently.

About Richard Jessup

Richard Jessup (01/01/1925 - 10/27/1982) was born in Savannah, Georgia and died in Nokomis, Florida. He lived in and out of orphanages until age sixteen - when he ran away to join the United States Merchant Marine. In eleven years of seamanship, he claimed he read a book a day and learned to write by typing out the complete text of War and Peace and editing out the errors - he subsequently threw the edited work in the ocean. Jessup was married to Vera in 1944 and had a daughter named Marina. He left the Merchant Marine in 1948 to become a fulltime author. He was at the typewriter ten hours a day. Jessup's obituary claims he wrote over sixty novels (only confirmed a bibliography of thirty-four). His first novel, The Cunning and the Haunted, was published in 1954 and filmed as The Young Don't Cry in 1957. Three other novels were also adapted to film - The Deadly Duo, Chuka, and The Cincinnati Kid. He sold the movie rights to the 1971 novel Foxway but it was never filmed. Jessup published eleven novels - primarily westerns and spy thrillers - as Richard Telfair. His last novel, Threat, was published in 1981.
