Book Overview

by L. M. Montgomery (Author)

Anne's House of Dreams, the fifth book in the Anne of Green Gables series, captures the early married life of Anne Shirley and her childhood sweetheart in their dream home.

Moving to the picturesque seashore of Four Winds Point, Anne Shirley embarks on the next chapter in her life alongside her husband, Gilbert Blythe. In Four Winds, Anne and Gilbert meet a host of intriguing characters. Captain Jim, a former sailor turned lighthouse keeper, shares his sea-faring tales and wisdom with the newlyweds. Miss Cornelia Bryant, a forthright unmarried woman in her 40s, becomes an unexpected yet cherished friend. Anne also forms a deep bond with Leslie Moore, a young woman whose tragic past and resilient spirit touch her heart.

Originally published in 1917, Anne's House of Dreams is a poignant exploration of love, friendship, and the complexities of building a life together. This edition features a new biography of Lucy Maud Montgomery.

About L. M. Montgomery

Lucy Maud Montgomery (November 30, 1874 - April 24, 1942) was a Canadian author best known for a series of novels beginning in 1908 with Anne of Green Gables. The book was an immediate success. The central character, Anne Shirley, an orphaned girl, made Montgomery famous in her lifetime and gave her an international following. The first novel was followed by a series of sequels with Anne as the central character. Montgomery went on to publish 20 novels as well as 530 short stories, 500 poems, and 30 essays. Most of the novels were set in Prince Edward Island, and locations within Canada's smallest province became a literary landmark and popular tourist site-namely Green Gables farm, the genesis of Prince Edward Island National Park. She was made an officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1935.
