Front Jacket

Follow Baby Bear's excursion into the big wide world as he tries to prove his independence, wandering closer and closer to places he doesn't belong. Using twin cubs and the assistance of a handler, Stan succeeded in getting all the photos for this book from the cubs' natural reactions to their surroundings. His ability to capture everything from their inquisitive faces to actually tumbling from a log is delightfully documented. Marion Dane Bauer is the author of more than 50 books for young people. She has won numerous awards, including the Minnesota Book Award, a Jane Addams Peace Association Award for her novel Rain of Fire and an American Library Association Newbery Honor Award for another novel, On My Honor. Stan Tekiela is a naturalist, author and wildlife photographer. A columnist and radio personality, he also writes a syndicated column appearing in over 20 cities. Stan authors other nature books including field guides for birds, birds of prey, mammals, reptiles and amphibians, trees and wildflowers
