Book Overview

Welcome to the Beginning Ukulele Fingerstyle Songbook. This songbook is perfect for the beginning ukulele player ready to break out of strumming songs and explore the world of fingerstyle ukulele. The goal of the Beginning Ukulele Fingerstyle Songbook is to help you master essential finger-picking techniques and patterns.

By the end of this book, you will be proficient in seven of the most common fingerstyle patterns used in ukulele songs. With each fingerstyle pattern, you will be taught two separate lessons. The first lesson will be a warm-up exercise where you will be introduced to the fingerstyle pattern played over a simple 1 or 2-chord progression. This way you can focus on learning and memorizing the fingerstyle pattern without having to play difficult chord changes.

The second lesson will take the fingerstyle pattern you just learned and apply it to a great sounding original song. This performance level song will help you master the fingerstyle pattern and give you practice learning and switching chords.

This book teaches you different concepts related to fingerstyle ukulele, such as the rest stroke and the free stroke. Another goal of the Beginning Ukulele Fingerstyle Songbook is to help you take what you learn and apply fingerpicking to your favorite songs.

The Beginning Ukulele Fingerstyle book was written for High "G" ukulele, but you can use any soprano, concert, or tenor ukulele with either high "G" or low "G".

This book will serve as a great warmup for the follow-up book, Ukulele Fingerstyle Mastery by Uke Like the Pros, which is also available on Amazon in both print and Kindle versions.

Stay committed every day until you get through every lesson in this book. Set aside some time, even if it's just 15 minutes a day, to practice these lessons and songs. Your playing, technique, and confidence will improve and get better through daily exercises and discipline. Life is busy with work, family, and other unexpected things, but decide right now that no matter what happens each day, you will practice. The rewards you'll see in your playing will outweigh any difficulties you might face.

Ready to go? It's time to become a great ukulele player with the Beginning Ukulele Fingerstyle Songbook.

With this book you get free access to the backing tracks for each lesson. You will also get free access to the Uke Like the Pros Forum where you can join the worldwide community and post your progress.
