Author Biography

Jamie Smart draws comics and books for children and adults alike. His previous works include Bunny vs. Monkey, which has appeared weekly in comics magazine The Phoenix, and Fish-Head Steve, the first comic shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize. In addition to his current work illustrating a novel series and books for younger readers, Jamie enjoys creating content on YouTube, including how-to-draw videos, and working for children's comic, magazines, and in TV development. When he's not drawing comics, he's eating biscuits, or walking his dog around the English countryside. It's one or the other, never both.

About Jamie Smart

Jamie Smart was named Illustrator of the Year at the British Book Awards 2024, and won Illustrated Children's Book of the Year for Bunny vs Monkey: Multiverse Mix-up. He studied art at college for four years, but it was just an excuse to practise drawing animals with boggly-eyes. His comic Fish-Head Steve was the first comic to be shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize. Jamie has illustrated comics for The Sunday Times, the Dandy and the Beano, and is also the creator of the Max and Chaffy comic series for younger readers, and the illustrated middle-grade Flember series.
