About Florence Sakade

The late Florence Sakade (1916-1999) is widely recognized as a pioneer of English language publishing in Japan. She was a well-known origami practitioner as well as an experienced editor and the author/compiler of numerous books about Japan, including Tuttle Publishing's A Guide to Reading and Writing Japanese, Japanese Children's Favorite Stories, Urashima Taro and Other Japanese Children's Favorite Stories, Peach Boy and Other Japanese Children's Stories, Little One-Inch and Other Japanese Children's Stories and Kintaro's Adventures and Other Japanese Children's Favorite Stories. Her distinguished career spanned four decades, and she worked until her death in 1999 at the age of 82.
