Divorcee, Gabbie Meyerson, moves to the sleepy town of Chrissom Harbor, Long Island, to start over and teach English at the local high school. What she learns from residents is that Cam was the town daredevil, playboy, and wheeler-dealer. His four closest friends are angry because he deceived them in a land deal. They each have a personal reason to hate him, as well. And then there's his lover's husband. No shortage of suspects.

Despite what she hears about his character, Gabbie finds herself growing fond of Cam and continues to help him, at what might be a great risk to herself.
