Book Overview

Clowns are a part of birthday parties and fairs, and most of all, the circus. Thinking of the circus brings images of elephants, lions, ring leaders and of course, clowns. But do we think of any of those as having a place in great art? Here is a picture book for adults and students of all ages...A picture book of clowns and circuses in art! There are people, animals and lots of tents. Look through these paintings and photographs that span many centuries, and notice the similarities and the differences between them...See the colors, the textures and patterns. But, most of all, enjoy!

About Catherine McGrew Jaime
Catherine has been studying and teaching about Leonardo da Vinci for more than a decade. She loves sharing him with students of all ages. Her first book on him, "Da Vinci: His Life and His Legacy," was a short, but still complete, family-friendly biography of his life. Over the last several years she has started a series of historically based novels about Leonardo, that currently includes "Leonardo the Florentine," "Leonardo: Masterpieces in Milan," "Leonardo: To Mantua and Beyond," and "Leonardo: A Return to Rome." Each of these novels have been well-researched, and give a fascinating view of both Leonardo da Vinci and the time and place he lived and worked.
About Deirdre K. Fuller
Author's Bio: Deirdre's appreciation for "Great Art" started when she was a little girl. Her father made sure that his family was exposed to museums of many kinds. As a talented photographer himself, he saw the benefit to seeing things from a different perspective and this led his daughter to appreciate many different kinds of art. Deirdre's favorite artist was Ansel Adams with his black and white photographs of landscapes. Only in the last few years has she come to recognize and enjoy the works of many other artists, and in the process has fallen in love with many different kinds of art, especially paintings, both well-known and not so well-known.
