Lesedi and the Purple Lotus - Paperback

by Lauren Brooks (Author)

Lesedi and the Purple Lotus is a whimsical fantasy that tells the story of Black people, celebrating the magic and resilience that makes them who they are at their core. As descendants of enslaved Africans and children of the diaspora, Black history is often presented from an outside perspective, but this book aims to give an inside look at what makes Black people magical.

The story is set in a fantastical world where readers can see themselves reflected in the characters and their experiences. Through this magical world, the author weaves in real stories of resilience and perseverance that have been hidden from Black people for too long. The book goes beyond the trauma of slavery and instead focuses on the Black girl and Black boy magic that has carried the community through difficult times.

Lesedi and the Purple Lotus is more than just a fantasy novel; it's a celebration of Black culture and history. The book is filled with little-known Black history facts that readers don't typically learn in school.
