Onyx Shadows - Paperback

by D. B. Forest (Author)

When Ellory sickens and dies, she wakes up in a noblewoman's body. Thinking it's a dream, she tries to go home, but realizes...it's not a dream...It's real. And she has to figure out how to be Lady Orielle without getting caught because magic is illegal, and the circumstances have no other explanation.

Trapped in the royal court and betrothed to the prince who's known Orielle for years, every moment threatens exposure. And worse...she discovers that Orielle had magic, too. The uncontrollable gift keeps popping up at the worst possible moments, and her only hope of escape may be a magical rascal she's only met once.

...

For centuries, Maehdiorah has orchestrated the perfect plan to legalize magic. But when the rising leader of hunted magic-users discovers a girl touched by dark magic in the capital, Mae realizes her mistake has returned to haunt her. And now threatens everything she's worked so hard to build.

Onyx Shadows is high fantasy with dual first-person POVs.
