Retief: A Positronic Book - Paperback

A sharp and fast-moving entry in the Retief series, The Yillian Way follows interstellar diplomat Jame Retief as he confronts alien protocol, bureaucratic absurdity, and the constant risk of diplomatic collapse. In a galaxy where etiquette can be as dangerous as warfare, Retief's ability to cut through convention proves as valuable as any weapon.

Assigned to navigate the complexities of an alien culture with its own rigid expectations and hidden agendas, Retief quickly finds that official channels are more likely to create problems than solve them. As tensions escalate, he must rely on instinct, improvisation, and a willingness to disregard protocol in order to prevent disaster.

Keith Laumer's Retief stories are known for their blend of action, satire, and inventive world-building, offering a pointed take on bureaucracy and diplomacy wrapped in classic science fiction adventure. This volume continues that tradition, delivering a story that is both entertaining and sharply observed.
