Scattergood Baines Returns - Paperback

Scattergood Baines -- the country storekeeper who has become a national hero -- returns in a book filled with homespun philosophy, shrewd American humor, and common sense.

Clarence Budington Kelland (1881-1964) was an American writer known for his prolific output of short stories, novels, and screenplays. Often described as a "teller of tales," Kelland's work spanned genres, but he was best known for his humorous and heartwarming stories featuring ordinary, likable characters. His most famous creation, Scattergood Baines, a shrewd but kind-hearted small-town businessman, appeared in both literature and film. Kelland's accessible, optimistic writing style made him a popular figure in mid-20th-century American fiction, with many of his works adapted for movies and radio.
