On the high seas, the dragonriders must turn blade and flame against mythical terrors ...
Prince Reigh believed his days of dealing with deadly secret societies and divine magic were finally behind him. Fourteen years after the defeat of the Goddess of Mischief, all has been peaceful in the Kingdom of Maldobar. But when the criminal lord, Arlan the Kinslayer, calls in a favor, Reigh has no choice but to take up his blades once again and leave Maldobar behind. Setting sail for the mysterious Southern Kingdoms with old friends and new allies, Reigh must track down an artifact with world-ending power before it can be used to crack open the kingdom of the gods. With the help of Captain Malina Skyhart, Reigh and his friends face a sea filled with bloodthirsty pirates. But swashbucklers and stowaways might be the least of their problems. And when Arlan warns that a certain sorceress has already attacked the ancient library where the artifact was hidden, leaving no survivors behind, Reigh fears they may already be too late. CLARKE has never set foot outside the Compendium Library. Tucked away safely in the farthest corner of Nar'Haleen, he and all the other orphans raised by the library scholars never worried about the war that has raged between the Southern Kingdoms for centuries ... until it finally reached their doorstep. Awakening to find his home destroyed, and with nothing to guide him except his bizarrely-and sometimes overwhelmingly-perfect memory, Clarke must find a way to survive in a land riddled with danger ... or be lost to a war he's only read about in dusty tomes.
