Iris is a mermaid, a creature born to feast on the flesh of man, and feast she shall until the earth reclaims her. Never one to fuss when it comes to matters of cuisine, Iris is accustomed to simply dining on whatever-or whoever-is most convenient when hunger strikes. That scent belongs to Theo, son of a notorious pirate and brother to a recently missing little girl. With minimal clues at his disposal, Theo puts the lush pines behind him, taking to the sea in hopes of finding his beloved sister. But Theo will quickly come to learn that the trees have eyes and the sea oftentimes has strange intentions.

As Iris keeps close watch over mankind's next sacrificial lamb, she begins to wonder if it might be more than just hunger that she's feeling for this particular human.
