Book Overview

by Faith Martin (Author)

From multi-million-selling Faith Martin, one of Britain's best-loved mystery writers. Discover a series of murder mysteries set in an idyllic English village.

Meet Monica Noble: the vicar's wife with a taste for solving crimes.
SMELL THE ROSES AND DIE!
Monica Noble is thrilled to be asked to judge a neighbouring village's flower show - even if she can't tell a begonia from an azalea!
Her fellow judge Vicar James Davies inhales deeply from a large bloom and drops dead in the tent. At first everyone thinks he's had a heart attack, but the doctor on hand is suspicious and calls in the police.
A second murder quickly follows. This time it's one of the main suspects.
Monica must help Chief Inspector Jason Dury to solve the two murders and find the killer - before anyone else pays the ultimate price.
This is the second of a series of enjoyable murder mysteries with great characters and baffling crimes which will keep you gripped till the final page.
Please note this book was first published as Unholy Whiff of Death under Faith Martin's pen name JOYCE CATO.
Perfect for fans of classic whodunits by authors like Agatha Christie, L.J. Ross, Simon Brett, Richard Osman and the Rev Richard Coles.

MEET THE AMATEUR SLEUTH

MONICA NOBLE was widowed young, leaving her to raise her feisty daughter on her own. That is, until she met and fell in love with Graham Noble, a country vicar (pastor), who enticed her to leave her high-flying job in advertising in the city and move to the Cotswold countryside. There she found bucolic life very pleasant indeed - until murder started to rear its ugly head. And she discovered, to everyone's surprise, that she had a flair for solving the most unholy of crimes.

About Faith Martin

Faith Martin has been writing for thirty years, under different pen names, and has published over fifty novels. She began writing romantic thrillers as Maxine Barry, but quickly turned to crime! As Joyce Cato she wrote classic-style whodunits, since she's always admired the golden-age crime novelists. But it was when she created her fictional DI Hillary Greene, and began writing under the name of Faith Martin, that she finally became more widely known. Having penned the Ryder & Loveday series set back in the 1960s in the City of Oxford, Faith Martin has now turned to the golden age itself, with a brand new series set in the Cotswolds of the 1920s. Having lived Oxfordshire all her life, both the city and the countryside/wildlife often feature in her novels. The fauna of a farming landscape has always played a big part in her life - and often sneak its way onto the pages of her books.
