Step into the glittering world of Georgian England with Georgette Heyer's The Masqueraders, a captivating tale of daring disguises, high society intrigue, and unexpected romance.

In the aftermath of the failed Jacobite rebellion, siblings Prudence and Robin Tremaine find themselves on the run, their lives hanging in the balance. To evade capture, they adopt audacious new identities: Prudence becomes the dashing young gentleman "Peter Merriot," while Robin transforms into the enchanting "Miss Kate Merriot." Their charade leads them into the heart of London society, where they must navigate a maze of masquerades, duels, and romantic entanglements.

The Masqueraders is a masterful blend of wit, adventure, and romance, showcasing Heyer's unparalleled talent for bringing the past to life. With its clever plot twists and richly drawn characters, this novel is a delightful escape into a world where appearances are deceiving, and love conquers all.

About Georgette Heyer

Georgette Heyer (1902-74) is considered the founder of historical romance. Heyer's first novel, The Black Moth, was published when she was nineteen, and she became a bestselling novelist at twenty-four with the publication of These Old Shades. Inspired by Jane Austen, she published Regency Buck in 1935, creating the Regency romance subgenre in the process. Despite her popularity, Heyer never gave an interview or made a public appearance (though she once accepted an invitation to lunch with Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace). Over the course of her career, Heyer wrote more than fifty books.
